AMERIGO International is delighted to announce a new referenced Supplier in its portfolio: Yuasa. GS Yuasa Corporation (株式会社 ジ ー エ ス ・ ユ ア サ コ ー ポ レ ー シ ョ ン) is the world's leading battery manufacturer. The Japanese company was founded in 1918 by Shichizaemon YUASA and today belongs to the GS Yuasa Corporation group, which employs more than 13,600 people around the world. The group, based in Kyoto, Japan, generates a turnover of 4.8 billion USD (2018) in particular thanks to its 91 subsidiaries covering the fields of automotive, aerospace, energy, green energy, emergency power systems, telecoms and mobility.
Yuasa beame over the years the undisputed leader in lead-acid batteries with, in 2018: 48 million units sold for cars, 53 million for motorcycles and 55 million for industrial vehicles. Yuasa is also a market leader in lithium-ion batteries, selling in high voltage (> 48V) and low voltage (12V) versions. These are notably developed in partnership with Mitsubishi and equip several satellites such as the GEO satellite created by the company Thaicom, which today covers Asia, Oceania and Africa.
The company covers with its batteries the major manufacturers today on the roads: BMW, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi Motos, Nissan, KIA, PSA Peugeot Citroën, Porsche, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, TATA Motors and Volkswagen. Yuasa batteries are also used in commercial vehicles from manufacturers Komatsu, Hitachi, FUSO, Mercedes-Benz, Isuzu Trucks, CAT, Hino and Terex.
Yuasa has several ranges for the automotive industry: YBX Conventional Automotive batteries for light cars and vans, YBX Next Generation Automotive batteries for light cars and vans, YBX Super Heavy Duty batteries for commercial vehicles, YBX Active batteries for leisure and maintenance vehicles, and Industrial VRLA and Industrial Lithium batteries for technical and technological uses.
Yuasa owns among other things 80% of the global OEM market share of motorcycles and sports motorcycles by equipping Artic Cat, Aprilia, BLW, Caguva, Derbi, Ducati, Gilera, Harley-Davidson, Honda, John Deere, Kawasaki, KTM, MV Agusta, Moto Guzzi, Peugeot Scooters, Piaggio, Polaris, Suzuki, Triumph, Vespa and Yamaha. Based on this experience, the Japanese company is the official supplier and sponsor of the HRC (Honda Racing Corporation) team.
Very influential in Europe, Yuasa has structures in the United Kingdom (in Ebbw Vale and Swindon), in Germany (in Dusseldorf), in France (in Lyon), in Italy (in Milan), in Spain (in Madrid) and in Sweden (in Jonkoping).
